Robert Kitchener, MD of Blackburn based PAT testing firm Kitchener 2000 is warning of the hidden dangers that could be lurking in the classroom, as the firm is finding numerous faulty products are hitting the market and being used by unregulated testers providing a substandard service.

"The two major risks are electrocution and fire. With 1 in 5 commercial fires being caused by faulty electrical equipment this is an area of serious concern, particularly in schools and nurseries where children are vulnerable and potentially exposed to a serious and life-threatening situation," says Kitchener.
