New hearing protection products from Crescendo, the PPE 20, PPE 25 and PPE Impulse in-ear protection are said to dramatically reduce employee health problems caused by working in very noisy environments.
According to Crescendo, the reusable, washable, triple flange earplugs were developed for industrial, construction and other noisy environments, and offer a level of sound protection normally only associated with expensive customer-made hearing protection.
The PPE 20 and PPE 25 filter technology is said to ensure linear, or flat, attenuation of surrounding noise, resulting in reduction of sound levels equally over all frequencies. This allows natural sound and clear speech to be heard, an essential safety requirement in noisy work places.
PPE Impulse has been developed to protect the user from extreme levels of impulse noise generated by nail guns, riveting and drop hammers whilst allowing speech and other low level noise to be heard. PPE Impulse was developed for military use to provide protection from shooting to heavy artillery.
Designed to be reusable, using environmentally friendly – 100% organic thermoplastic elastomer (TPE), the earplugs are safe and comfortable for continuous shift working, and are a cost-effective long-term replacement for disposable one-use foam earplugs. The replaceable filter design, with its air channel, allows air to circulate in the ear eliminating ‘hot ear’, which can cause irritation and infection.
The PPE range provides the ultimate universal fit hearing protection product.
• Crescendo PPE 20 reduces sound levels by 20 dB (decibel), providing 8 hours continuous use in any environment up to 105 dB – approximately the sound of a jet engine at 1000ft.
• PPE 25 reduces sound levels by 25 dB, making it safe for up to 8 hours continuous use in environments up to 110 dB – approximately the sound of a live rock band.
• PPE Impulse is available with 4 options; ambient protection of 15 or 21 dB both with optional total block mode via simple switch operation. All PPE Impulse hearing protection provides 33 dB of impulse noise protection – IPIL certified.
Steve Collicott, Business Development Director, Dynamic Ear Company, stated, "The PPE range does not mask noise. Our technology reduces noise across all frequencies, ensuring operators in loud environments remain spatially aware and are able to communicate effectively with others. Incidents of work related hearing injury are increasing. Our devices are designed to provide the correct protection for industrial, construction and noisy work environments. We believe they provide both a more effective and more cost-effective option than single-use foam plugs. Our solutions can protect workers from short and long term work related deafness.”
Ready to wear out of the box, with no forming required, Crescendo PPE 20, PPE 25 and PPE Impulse are available with 4 sizes of tip (S, M, L, XL) in a variety of colours. The design helps position the plug correctly within the ear and provides stability and increased retention during extended periods of wear and physical exertion. Crescendo hearing protection is designed and manufactured in the Netherlands, all products are 100% acoustically tested and come with a 2 year limited warranty. Crescendo also offers white label and proprietary hearing protection solutions for a wide range of applications.
