International safety award

Avery Dennison’s Label and Packaging Materials production operation in Cramlington has won an International Safety Award with merit from the British Safety Council in recognition of its commitment to keeping its workers and workplace healthy and safe during 2014.

"Safety is more than a priority for Avery Dennison, it is a core value of the company culture,” said EH&S manager Kevin Gilroy. "It is very gratifying that the hard work carried out by all the staff in Cramlington has been recognized by this important award."

Over the last four years, there has not been a single RIDDOR (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations) reportable accident at Avery Dennison Cramlington. Over the same period, a total of just fourteen shifts have been lost as the result of a work-related incident.

Plant manager Lisa Thompson said: "Employee engagement is key to Avery Dennison's proactive safety culture, and it is clear that this engagement has paid off with a safety record that benefits all."

During 2014, Avery Dennison ran a different safety campaign each quarter, all of them under the theme "Think Safety" - "Stop Think Act."
