New brand design & name

The past 65 years have had an abundance of formative phases and moments, from the company’s beginnings as a wholesale drapery business founded by Herbert Berthold (HB) in 1952, specialisation as a supplier of protective clothing in the early 1960s and construction of the state-of-the-art logistics centre in Thalhausen in 2002, right the way up to the introduction of the high-speed delivery service – 21 to wear – in 2013, accompanied by the company's rise to become the German market leader in the PPE industry. And who can forget the integration of the TEMPEX product categories – cold, heat and multifunctional protection – in early 2016, which has allowed the successful development of HB to gain momentum once more.

These 65 years are a reason to celebrate in every respect. However, they also mark the right time for a turning point. HB has used its anniversary as an opportunity to make its successful development and leading market position fully visible to the outside world. In the redesign of its logo, HB has taken inspiration from the green sea turtle, which it has been supporting for many years through its environmental initiative for the conservation of the species and which is a symbol of reliable personal protection. Its logo now incorporates the name TEMPEX as an acknowledgement of how it has strengthened the brand, and it has adapted its entire corporate design to the new trademark – from sales equipment and trade show displays, right up to catalogue and advertising designs, everything is brand new. Most importantly, HB has also modified the company name: HB Schutzbekleidung will now be known as HB Protective Wear.
