Babies and young children are unable to express their symptoms and so, when paediatric first aid is required, it is often a very serious situation, which requires immediate attention and a high level of training.
"But now, in recognition of this level of importance, the current Level 2 Award in Paediatric First Aid has been replaced with a new Level 3 Award," Mark Stevens, training director of BX Medical Training, reports.
The new Award is for people who have a specific responsibility at work, or through voluntary and community activities, to provide first aid to babies and children, when dealing with an emergency situation, chronic or sudden paediatric illness or paediatric injury. Everyone completing the Level 3 training will receive two certificates and the qualification is valid for three years.
