PASMA Tower Safety Week returns

Working well with towers is the theme of this year’s PASMA Tower Safety Week which runs from 12 - 17 November 2017. Now in its fifth year, the campaign will again promote tower safety and good practice internationally via a series of events and activities designed to keep people safe.

Comments chair of the association, Gillian Rutter: “PASMA Tower Safety Week is a unique opportunity for PASMA members to share their knowledge and expertise - not only with tower users, but with anyone responsible for specifying towers and overseeing their safe use in the workplace.”

Mobile access towers are used in many different industry sectors - construction, building maintenance, cleaning, facilities management and utilities to name just a few - for which they provide a safe, flexible and effective means of gaining access to work at height.

Tower Safety Week will mirror these applications and put the spotlight firmly on tower safety.

The campaign is open to PASMA members and non-members alike.  By signing-up to the campaign, supporters can take advantage of a purpose-produced campaign toolkit and asset pack containing infographics and guidance designed to promote height safety in general and tower safety in particular.

Another way to get involved is the third incarnation of the Tower Selfie Competition, which urges tower users to highlight how they’re ‘working well with towers’ by taking selfies with safe, correctly built towers in use.

In addition, PASMA manufacturing members will run BS 1139-6 CPD Open Days for PASMA instructors; training members will deliver toolbox talks on tower safety and competency; and hire and assembly members will aim to go even higher and raise even more money for charity via the popular High Tower Challenge.

Says Gillian Rutter: “PASMA is the organisation that knows mobile towers, and cares about the people who use them. The more people who think and talk about the towers they are using, the safer they will be…and that’s what Tower Safety Week is all about.”
