Potters Heron Hotel, part of Pebble
Hotels, has contracted with the
shentongroup's unique emergency
generator service, Powercall, to
provide 'power within the hour' as
part of its emergency and business
continuity planning. Overcoming the
challenges associated with a
permanently installed standby
generator such as insufficient space,
capital expenditure and ongoing
maintenance, Potters Heron Hotel
now has a cost effective, guaranteed
solution to prolonged powercuts.
"We had a small generator but
that only provided backup power to
the lighting," said Chris Bailey,
general manager of Potters Heron
Hotel. "A major powercut focused
our minds on the need for additional
power support as it not only caused
disruption but also resulted in a
battle with the insurance company
regarding loss of earnings and freezer
failure. A larger generator would
have required a large financial outlay,
maintenance and recabling, whereas
the Powercall solution is extremely
cost effective and we have the peace
of mind of knowing our complete
site will be up and running again
within one hour if a powercut
occurs."
The Powercall service is capable of
supporting any site that has either
single or 3-phase mains electrical
supply up to 100A. For larger
buildings dedicated circuits can be
supported. The network is serviced by
a 24/7 call centre, which despatches a
generator from the nearest local
depot. The target time is less than one
hour, with a commitment to a
maximum of three hours.
